DraftKings, Sports betting operator has extended its Iowa footprint and launched a betting app and an online sportsbook in the state. The Boston-head office daily fantasy sports have turned sports betting company in the previous year and launched a retail sportsbook at three Iowa casinos. This was all done through a partnership with Wild Rose Casino & Resort. The three brick and mortar sportsbooks are situated at Wild Rose’s casinos in the cities of Emmetsburg, Jefferson, and Clinton. Iowa endorsed sports betting in 2019. The state then launched both retail and mobile betting in mid-August to join the US athletic betting frenzy.

Thanks to the approval of sports betting in Iowa. The state residents can now place bets on a wide array of sports. Though, it should be renowned that Iowa-based land-based and digital sportsbooks are not allowed to take proposition wagers on college sports that involve Iowa teams.

Another imperative provision in the state’s sports betting rule states that sports gamblers in Iowa must complete an in-person registration process at land-based sportsbooks. This is for them to be able to place wagers online. This obligation is set to continue until the beginning of 2021.

DraftKings to Strengthen Iowa Foothold

Since the US states were permitted to legalize sports betting and most introduced sports betting, DraftKings launched retail and/or digital sportsbooks in five US states, including Iowa. Moreover, they are gearing up arrangements to bring the sixth one, with that being Colorado.

The gaming operator gained its momentum in the budding US sports betting environment. It has now placed itself among the leaders in the provision of betting services in the states where it is operating.

DraftKings secured entry into Iowa in August 2019, when it publicized its partnership with Wild Rose Entertainment. The two operators obtained their licenses from the Iowa Racing and Gaming Commission.

Tom Timmons, Wild Rose President, and the COO said that they “believe that DraftKings offers the best mobile app to Iowa sports betting fans”. Also, they have been “overwhelmed with desires for this app” since they had opened their sportsbooks.
