Nevada Gaming Control Board Safety Measures in Place for Reopening Casinos

Home » Nevada Gaming Control Board Safety Measures in Place for Reopening Casinos

As the United States continues to fight off the COVID-19 pandemic, casinos are preparing to reopen. Late last week, the Nevada Gaming Control board released new policies for health and safety. To resume operations, casino operators will have to follow these policies to the letter. And provide an outline to the board with detailed plans on compliance.

So, what’s on the cards for Nevada gaming venues? Let’s take a look:

  1. All employees must wash their hands on breaks.
  2. Operators must provide personal protective equipment.
  3. In the beginning, the casino can only operate at 50% capacity.
  4. All gaming tables have a 3-person limit.
  5. Perspex screens between players and the dealer are mandatory.

Nevada Gaming Control Board Guidelines

Nevada Gaming Control Board Guidelines Have No Start Date

While the Nevada gaming policies are published, there’s no exact start date. Reportedly, this is because Governor Steve Sisolak hasn’t given the go-ahead or any projected dates. Of course, the state is still sheltering in place as cases in the US rise.

In Las Vegas, the Strip is eerily quiet, and the famous Bellagio fountain is just a puddle. Many operators are hoping that adhering to regulations will recoup losses. Wynn Resorts has already put a hold on dividends, with other casinos furloughing employees. Although Wynn had already been struggling financially since their big scandal.

Guideline Monitoring in Nevada

To ensure that all businesses are following state guidelines, the Local Empowerment Advisory Panel (LEAP) will be in charge. According to reports, LEAP will help local communities open up again safely while maintaining social distance and hygiene.

Also, it will have the authority to authorize all 16 counties and an independent city’s re-opening of non-essential business. This includes stand-alone retail stores and dine-in restaurants, providing that they comply with “aggressive” measures. Their employees will also have to wear face masks and gloves.

Further regulations and news on the economy will be announced later. Hopefully, Nevada gaming will pick up soon.
