Mohegan Gaming & Entertainment South Korea Project
In February 2016, Mohegan Gaming & Entertainment got the go-ahead from the South Korean government to build a casino resort in the Incheon province. At the time, the project was scheduled for a 2020 launch. It was also planned that the construction of the casino resort was to start early 2017. However, there have been delays with the project so far.
Instead of construction in early 2017, Mohegan Gaming & Entertainment signed a deal with a local company to construct the integrated casino resort. The project was going to be handled by Mohegan Gaming, Incheon International Airport Corp (IIAC) and KCC Corp.
Delays in the Project
Late 2017, the project was given a name -Inspire Integrated Resort. Mohegan Gaming had planned to have a ceremony for the first phase of the resort. However, there were delays, and the ceremony was pushed back to the following Spring.
According to Kevin Brown, the delays were only procedures that the companies needed to have the necessary permits. The company met with the mayor of Incheon, Yoo Joeng-bok to sign a cooperation agreement.
Inspire Integrated Casino Resort
The Inspire project has a three to four-year time limit. It will feature a paramount studios theme amusement park, a casino with 1500 slot machines and 250 gambling tables. There will also be a luxury hotel that will have 1350 guest rooms that will be five and six stars. The total cost of the Inspire project is estimated to cost more than $6 billion.
This casino will be the first project for Mohegan Gaming outside of the United States. Currently, the gaming operator owns a casino complex, Mohegan Sun in Connecticut and Mohegan Sun Pocono. There are also gaming facilities that Mohegan Gaming owns in Atlantic City, Louisiana and Washington.
