Best Craps Bets List of Craps Bets
The best crap bets are amongst the most popular, simplest and safest ones to play. Especially when you are still learning how to play craps online. Take time to learn how each of these bets work to avoid blaming your losses on bad luck. Here are the types of craps bets explained:
Pass Line Bet
The pass line bet is the most basic craps bet you can make. It has a 1.41% house edge and when you bet the pass line bet you get a 1:1 payout ratio. This craps bet is made in the come-out roll stage of the game. It involves betting on whichever number combination you think the dice will produce, in favor of the shooter.
- If the dice produces a 7 or 11 outcome, you win.
- Should it produces combinations of 2, 3 or 12, you lose.
- If the numbers 4, 5, 6, 8, 9 or 10 is produced, you will have to roll again and continue the rolling of the dice until the bet is resolved. The subsequent number then becomes your winning number, also called a ‘point’.
Don’t Pass Bet
Don’t pass craps bets are the total opposite and hold much higher odds of 98.65% expected return to player. With these craps bets, you are wagering against the shooter.
- If the shooter rolls combinations of snake eyes (2), 3 or 12, you win.
- Should the outcome be a 7 or 11, you lose.
- If a number other than the ones mentioned are rolled, then a second or third roll is required to produce a definite winning or losing outcome.
Come Bet
This craps bet has a 1.41% house edge and a 1:1 payout ratio. Come bets are similar to pass line bets, the only exception being that come bets are made after a point.
All other aspects are the same – you bet in favor of the shooter and the point number becomes your winning number.
So, if the number 8 is your point number, you will then wager hoping that an 8 is produced before a 7 is rolled which would then end the round.
Don’t Come Bet
Don’t come crap bets have a house edge of 1.35% and a payout ratio of 1:1. Yet again, this bet is the total opposite of come bets.
Here you are betting against the shooter, not in favor of the shooter like with come and pass line bets. If a 7 is rolled before the point is established, players bet wins.
Advanced Craps Bets
Apart from the popular bets, there are also single and multi-roll bets. We explain these types of bets below.
Single Roll & Proposition Bets
Single crap bets can be made at any point in the game and are placed on the dice images found on the craps table layout. These bets have a very high house edge and is therefore not recommended.
Proposition bets are just a compilation of single roll bets. See some of the types of prop bets and their payouts below.
- Any Craps: Wins if combinations 2, 3 or 12 is rolled, 7:1 payout.
- Any Seven: Wins if a 7 is the outcome, bets pay 4:1.
- Two Craps: Wins if a 2 is rolled, 30:1 payout.
- Three Craps: Wins if the dice produces a 3, 15:1 payout.
- Twelve Craps: Wins if the shooter gets a 12, 30:1 payout.
- Eleven Craps: Wins if an 11 is produced and the casino pays 15:1.
Multi-Roll Bets
In addition to single and proposition bets mentioned above, various other types of bets are available to the player. We identify some of these multi-roll bets below.
- Buy/Lay Bets. With this craps bet, you choose numbers 4, 5, 6, 8, 9 or 10 and can wager on any of these at any point during the game. If your chosen number is the outcome before a 7 combination ends the round. The house has no edge and will pay you whatever is due to you. This means the payout offers true odds, but there’s usually a 5% levy on your overall winnings.
- Place Win/Place Lose. You can bet on combinations 4, 5, 6, 8, 9 or 10. and if your selected number wins before the round is terminated by a 7, you win. Place Lose wagers, on the other hand, wins if the dice lands a 7. And your bet loses if all the other numbers are rolled.
- Big 6/Big 8. This type of craps bet has a dedicated area on the side of the craps table. Here you win if a 6 or 8 is pulled before the 7. This bet hands the lowest house edge and it will pay even money.
- Hardway Bets. There are three outcome possibilities with this craps bet; hard way, the easy way or a 7. Hardway outcomes are when both dice land on the same number. All other dice combinations are considered easy way outcomes. We know by now that when a 7 is produced, the round ends.

- Horn Bet – 2 or 12 and 3 and 11
