Myth 1: You have to get as close as possible to 21
Is it true? No!
The main objective of the game is to get to 21 and over. However, to win the game, you need to beat the dealer by having a better hand. Another important thing to remember is not to bust before the dealer. Chasing 21 is the objective; however, beating the dealer should be your main priority.
Myth 2: Assume that the dealer’s hole card is a 10
Do not assume!
Blackjack is played with a deck of 52 cards. That means 16 cards in the pack are worth 10 points. That is a 31% chance that the hole card is a 10. Assuming that the hole card is a ten is risky and could see you make costly playing mistakes.
Myth 3: Card Counting is Illegal
No, Blackjack Card counting is not illegal, and neither does it guarantee that you will win.
To maximise your blackjack odds, you have to play the strategy well enough to be able to lower the house edge. Many casinos consider Counting cards as cheating; however, it isn’t. In actual fact, it is a mathematical card skill.
Myth 4: Take the Insurance option
Wait, you might not want to do that.
Well, not at every play. The insurance bet is a separate wager that the dealer lets you take if their face up card is an Ace. There is a 31% chance that the hole card is valued at 10. There is a good chance that your hand is far better than that of the dealers and you wouldn’t want to make a bad bet (insurance) in hopes of saving what could be an excellent winning hand.
Myth 5: Face Cards Follow Each Other
How true can this be?
All the red lights are flashing with this myth. There are 12 face cards in a deck, chances that are dealt one after another is highly unlikely. The odds fall with number cards following a basic blackjack strategy is far better than expecting two face cards.

This myth is far from the truth.
